Client Description
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) oversees and provides the transportation system (highway, transit, registration, and aeronautics) for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Problem/Issue
Following its merger with various transportation agencies including the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), MassDOT wanted to review its time and attendance functionality, identify options for MassDOT executives to consider, and design a roadmap and architecture strategy for the organization’s enterprise time and attendance approach in order to improve efficiencies on an enterprise level.
BerryDunn’s Solution/Approach
Keeping in mind parallel workforce and task management projects already underway in MassDOT and the MBTA, BerryDunn worked with the Commonwealth’s key stakeholders to address numerous project objectives, including but not limited to:
- Assessment of the current state of time and attendance processes and technology
- Interviews with vendors to understand the time and attendance marketplace
- Development of cost estimates including staff, software, hardware, and implementation costs for each viable option
- Development of a phasing roadmap for the rollout of the enterprise time and attendance solution
Outcomes
BerryDunn’s work provided MassDOT with four distinct approaches and helped leadership achieving an objective choice of a solution based on best practices and lessons learned from similar implementations.
