Home Health and Hospice Clinicians and Field Staff Earn Certification in
Patient-Centered
Care Through BerryDunn

09.20.24

BerryDunn is proud to announce that 59 home health and 60 hospice clinical and non-clinical field staff have successfully earned certification in Patient-Centered Care (PCC) Mentorship by completing BerryDunn’s comprehensive online course and certification exam.

This certification underscores BerryDunn’s commitment to improving the quality of care provided to patients in home health and hospice settings. Through this specialized training, field staff gained the tools, knowledge, and techniques necessary to deliver care that is more attuned to the needs and preferences of individual patients and their caregivers.

The Patient-Centered Care certification course, developed by industry experts at BerryDunn, provides field staff with advanced training on personalized care strategies that prioritize patients’ physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. By focusing on the whole person, rather than just the disease or condition, care teams can form stronger relationships with their patients, leading to better outcomes and increased patient and family satisfaction.

“Achieving certification in Patient-Centered Care Mentorship is a significant milestone for these care team members,” said Lindsay Doak, Director of Healthcare Research and Education at BerryDunn. “It represents their dedication to providing high-quality, compassionate care that respects the values, preferences, and needs of every patient. This certification equips them with best practices that ultimately improve patient outcomes and overall quality of life for those receiving home health and hospice services.”

The importance of patient-centered care cannot be overstated. As healthcare continues to evolve with value-based initiatives, the focus on personalized care has proven to be a critical component in improving patient outcomes and fostering trust between patients and their care teams. Clinicians and care team members who have undergone this training are better equipped to collaborate with patients and their caregivers, ensuring that care decisions align with individual goals, values, and preferences.

BerryDunn’s certification program is a part of the National Patient and Family Satisfaction Quality Improvement Project. The project is designed to be accessible, allowing busy staff to complete the training and exam online at their own pace. The course incorporates case studies, interactive modules, and evidence-based practices to ensure clinicians are well-prepared to integrate patient-centered care into their everyday practice.
