Challenge
A new state entity was created by the Governor to address the needs of the state’s youngest children through the achievement of four target outcomes. The data needed to guide policy development, performance measurement, and program investments to achieve the four outcomes currently reside in multiple disparate systems across multiple state agencies.
Approach
BerryDunn experts:
- Assemble a team of technical and business experts
- Establish Early Childhood Data Governance Council
- Obtain buy-in on data governance approach
- Conduct stakeholder outreach to define and prioritize “critical questions”
- Identify required data elements and gaps
- Draft governance documents
- Develop a sustainability plan
Outcomes to Date
- Convened the first multi-agency Early Childhood Data Governance Council with 100% invited participant attendance from six stakeholder agencies
- Increased awareness of and alignment with the statewide information management initiative
