Challenge
One of the largest public school districts in a Mid-Atlantic state—with approximately 160,000 students and more than 22,500 employees—wanted to conduct a comprehensive assessment of their current business systems portfolio. The goal was to support their strategic objectives of increasing the efficiency of the district’s business operations by streamlining business processes.
Solution
BerryDunn’s team of objective advisors worked with the school system to:
- Conduct Initial Project Planning. BerryDunn conducted on-site meetings with key stakeholders to develop the project schedule and work plan.
- Facilitate and Report on Fact-Finding. BerryDunn conducted web surveys and on-site fact-finding activities, including meetings with staff to review, evaluate, and document existing system functionality and understand critical and unique processes.
- Develop a Detailed Project Roadmap. Using the information gathered, BerryDunn developed a Project Roadmap that included a detailed plan for the anticipated system upgrades.
Outcome
BerryDunn worked collaboratively with the district to develop a detailed Project Roadmap, which included realistic and actionable recommendations to be implemented. This plan recommended an upgrade to the district’s existing systems using a phased implementation approach—allowing the district to identify the required infrastructure and staffing investments for each upgrade and plan accordingly.
