BerryDunn has merged Louisville, Colorado-based parks, recreation, and open space consulting firm GreenPlay into its Parks, Recreation, Libraries Practice effective January 1, 2022.
The merger brings together two powerhouse teams, whose innovative and sustainable ideas have transformed how parks and recreation departments and quality-of-life agencies deliver services. The newly combined Parks, Recreation, Libraries Practice includes 20+ consultants throughout the country, all with first-hand experience as practitioners, researchers, and leaders in the field. With this merger, GreenPlay’s clients will have access to BerryDunn’s suite of financial, government, and IT consulting as an integrated resource. BerryDunn clients will benefit from an expanded bench of industry professionals and expertise, including GreenPlay’s Innovation Teams focused on economic impact; resource allocation and cost recovery; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and collegiate, recreation, and wellness planning. GreenPlay will take BerryDunn’s name.
“Our clients and staff are better operating together, instead of as competitors,” said Sarah Belliveau, BerryDunn’s CEO. “GreenPlay’s entrepreneurial spirit, growth mindset, and dedication to sustainable ideas are a perfect complement to our existing Parks, Recreation, Libraries Practice led by Barbara Heller. By combining forces, we’re better positioned to lead large-scale projects for departments and agencies throughout the United States. Our clients in higher education, public safety, and health and community services recognize the benefits of parks and recreation offerings, ever more since the pandemic. It’s exciting to envision all the ways our combined team’s experience can be utilized to help communities thrive.”
“Merging with BerryDunn ensures GreenPlay’s continuity and longevity,” said Teresa Penbrooke, GreenPlay’s CEO and Founding Managing Member. “We can focus on what we do best–making positive, sustainable impacts on the communities we serve by leveraging our years of expertise and experience. The merger also means we can serve clients of any size and fulfill our company’s vision of being a leading edge in parks, recreation, and open space consulting.”
BerryDunn has served the Local Government space for more than 35 years. Its team of consultants have found ways for departments and agencies to improve community-based services through strategic planning, master planning, pricing and recovery studies, feasibility studies, operational assessments, staff education, and strategic customer service systems.
